Funeral services for Maurice Carpenter, Jr., 84 of Knoxville, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Musella Baptist Church. Visitation will be held in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held Louisville, KY.

Mr. Carpenter passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Carpenter, Sr. and Sophia Lutes Carpenter; five sisters, Louise Lawson, Virginia Sutherland, Lois Jean Jordan, Ida Florence Irwin, and Susan Gagle.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Penn Carpenter of Musella; one son, Larry Carpenter of Crawford County; two daughters, Linda Diane Hood (James) of Elizabethtown, KY and Leslie Carol Miles (Doug)of Macon; seven step-children, Debra Newman (Michael) of Griffin, GA, Rev. Bradley Penn (Deborah) of Hillsboro, KS, Renea Bowling (William) of Rushville, IN, Donald Sinclair, Karen Sublett (Donald), Deloris Jean Robinson (Gary) of Louisville, KY, Brenda Bullock (Raymond) of Charleston, IN; two brothers, Richard J. Carpenter and Marcus David Carpenter of Louisville, KY; one sister, Betty Ann Pry of Louisville, KY; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Mr. Carpenter retired from B&W (Louisville, KY and Macon, GA) after 34 years.
