Marguerite Wood

Marguerite “Margie” Wood, 98, Oglethorpe, GA, passed away February 27, 2024, at The Oaks Nursing and Personal Care Home in Marshallville, GA. A memorial service will be held March 16, 2024, at 1 PM at Christian Heritage Worship Center in Oglethorpe, GA.  A private interment will be held at Andersonville National Cemetery.   A native of New Jersey, Margie resided in Oglethorpe for over fifty years, coming from Jacksonville, FL.  Margie was a devout Christian and boldly shared her relationship with Christ with all she encountered. She proudly served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service during WWII and was a National Rifle Association Endowment Member. Margie accomplished anything she set her mind on doing. As life progressed, she was involved in law enforcement, volunteer work at nursing homes, gun dealing, shooting, coin collecting, teaching, and fostering and homing numerous lonesome animals. She stayed very active well into her 90’s and lived independently until October 2023.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wood; son, Charles Cagle; daughter-in-law, Tina Cagle.

She is survived by her son, Robert Cagle of Montezuma, GA; her daughter, Patty (Rick) Harvey of Glen St. Mary, FL; step-daughter, Michelle (Bob) Pellecchia of Dayton, NJ; daughter-in-law, Diane Cagle of Andersonville, GA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
