Son Chu Owens

Son Chu (Choe) Owens, 90, of Reynolds, formerly from Seoul, Korea, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Roberta Health Care in Roberta, Georgia. A private entombment will be held at the mausoleum at Hillcrest Cemetery in Reynolds, Georgia.  

She was an independent business owner in Reynolds, Georgia and Fayetteville, Georgia for over 20 years. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Owens, a daughter, Hae Chong Son, her parents, Won Kee Choe and Hee Bong Go.  

She is survived by her daughter, Hae Song Spiller; grandson, Josh Spiller, granddaughters, Arum Son and Abby Spiller; her brother, Son Chong Choe; sister-in-law, Sun Deok Lee, nephews, In Ho Choe and Phil Ho Choe and niece, Gyu Young Choe. 

She is remembered by her daughter, and grandchildren as a loving mother and grandmother. All those who met “Choe” knew her talent in the kitchen and the way she showed her love and hospitability through food. She was a strong-willed, independent and very determined woman. 

Choe also had special friends who were like family to her, Bonnie Brannin, Janice Chubbuck, Dixie Graham, Frances Coulson, Mary and Russ Hearn, Barbara and Tom Carroll, who treasured the time they spent with her. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roberta Health Care in Roberta, Georgia.
