Alton Jerry Blackston

Funeral services for Alton J. Blackston, 74, of Butler will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of McLeighton Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Crowell United Methodist Church Cemetery. He passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Emory University Hospital.

He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Blackston was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He had worked at Bluebird Body Company for 10 years and retired from Robins Air Force Base after 25 years.

Mr. Blackston was preceded in death by his parents, John Albert Blackston and Polly Wyolene Joiner; brother, Lewis Blackston and sister, Lucille Ingram.

Survivors include his wife, Lanelle Blackston of Butler; one daughter, Christie R. Blackston (Josh Wiseman) of Atlanta; and one grandson, Alexander Wiseman of Atlanta.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
