A memorial service for Joan D. Carrender, 77, of Butler, will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.  Mrs. Carrender passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at her home.  She retired in 2006 and moved from Indiana to Butler to live with her daughter.  She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church.  She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as bird watching and gardening.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Milford A. Stevens and Lois V. Thompson Stevens; a brother, Richard A. Stevens; her husband, Richard Carrender; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer “Joan”  Henderson.

Survivors include her children, Jeff A. Henderson (Kay Mallott) of Indiana, Raymond Henderson of Kentucky, Teresa Fraustein (Tom) of Indiana and Lisa Kirksey (Larry) of Butler, Georgia; one brother, Dana R. Stevens of Florida; seven grandchildren, Amanda Lorenz (Eric), Jeffery E. Henderson, Jennifer Henderson, Justin Henderson, Stacey Strack (Beau), Nicole Fraustein (Adam Whiteman) and Logan Kirksey; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
