Funeral services for Lewis E. Andrews, Sr., 88, of Roberta will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Roberta United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in Roberta City Cemetery.  Mr. Andrews passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bascom and Mary Lewis Andrews; and wife, Alma DuBose Andrews.

Lewis attended schools in Montezuma and Crawford County, graduating in 1948.  After finishing school, he went into the U.S. Air Force serving until August 1952.  Working in Communications he was stationed in Alaska, Japan, Korea, Germany, Texas and Georgia.  When he returned to civilian life in Roberta, he married the former Alma DuBose of Crawford County in 1958.  He worked with Public Service Telephone Company where he was employed for 40 years as Central Office Manager, overseeing operations over a multi-county area.  He served on Roberta City Council for 15 years and then served as Mayor of Roberta for sixteen years, under his leadership Roberta flourished and progressed.  He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and had served on the Roberta-Crawford County Industrial Authority and Roberta-Crawford County Planning and Zoning Commission.  He was a member of Roberta United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Lewis Earl Andrews, Jr. (Sherry) of Musella and Jay Andrews (Pam) of Roberta; one daughter, Denise McDaniel (Dennis) of Reynolds; five grandchildren, Michael Andrews, Jonathan Andrews, Mandi Layfield, Colby Andrews and Haley Andrews; seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
