Graveside services for Allene K. James, 94, of Butler will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 2:30 pm at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Allene passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Taylor County Health and Rehab.
Allene was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She was a devoted homemaker and seamstress and loved having her family with her and cooking huge meals. You never left her house without eating. Along with her children, she loved her three dogs, Misty, Precious and Skeeter. After retiring from Spilene, she began using her mother’s quilting rack and made each of her children and grandchildren a quilt as well as many others. Her memory will live on through these special quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ethel Kirksey; her husbands, James Robert Lail and John Rufus James; three brothers, Roy Kirksey, Paul Kirksey and Clifford Kirksey; three sisters, Doris Lail, Martha High and Judy Bell; two sons, Robert Carl Lail and John James “Jimmy” Lail; and one grandson, Gregory E. Guined.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Faye Hines (Lloyd) of Buena Vista, Brenda Kay Mitchell (Cleve) of Kathleen and Cynthia Crook (Jeff) of Butler; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Lynn Bledsoe, Tina B. Moore, Shawna Freeman, Lisa Diane Posey (Brandon), Heather M. Watkins (Chris), James Lail (Debbie), Roy Lail (Donna), Billy Jo Bass (Bo), and Steven Lail; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
