Memorial services for Andrea Jolly Sams, 81, of Reynolds will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Reynolds. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at the church. Mrs. Sams passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Sams was a member of the First Baptist Church of Reynolds. She grew up in Oglethorpe, GA and was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
Andrea worked as a teacher while her husband finished medical school. She took her responsibilities as a wife and mother seriously, dedicating her time and energy in meeting their needs and managing their lives at home. Andrea lived a long and happy life as a supportive doctor’s wife and dedicated mother. Andrea loved being a grandmother to her four grandchildren who affectionately called her “Andi”. She took them on many trips and outings to do the fun things they loved. Spending time with them and for them was one of her greatest joys. She led an active lifestyle, always preferring to “go” rather than stay at home. She was blessed with dear friends who she spent time with shopping and eating out. She was very thankful for the care and affection of her children, Frank and Claire, who cared for her during her recent illness. She appreciated all the text messages and phone calls from friends and family who wanted to know how she was doing in recent weeks. She enjoyed keeping in touch with loved ones and always took the time to send birthday and get well cards. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas Jolly and Clara Gertrude Carswell Jolly; her husband, Dr. Frank Sams, Jr.
Survivors include one son, Frank H. Sams, III (Melinda) of Warner Robins; one daughter, Claire Sams Locke of Warner Robins; one sister, Joan Melin (John) of Griffin; four grandchildren, Houston Locke (Logan) of Reynolds, Anna Locke of Atlanta, Casey Sams of Warner Robins and Reid Sams of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews.
