Funeral services for Betty McCorkle Allen, 92, of Butler will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Butler Global Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Allen passed on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at her residence.
She was a member of the Butler Global Methodist Church where she had served as choir director and Sunday School teacher and as president of the United Methodist Women. She had also served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a retired educator from the Taylor County School District.
She was a lifelong resident of Taylor County and was preceded in death by her parents, Zack and Mary McCorkle.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Hayward Edwin Allen, Jr. of Butler; two sons, Eddy Allen (Debbie) of Macon and Stephen Allen (Cathi) of Mt. Airy; one sister, Barbara Hartley of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Stephanie Allen of Butler, Drew Allen (Melanie) of Butler, Kristen Middleton (Matt) of Macon, and Julie Durrett (Brent) of Pelham, AL; great-grandchildren, Abby Allen, Hattie Allen, Hayes Allen and Charlotte Durrett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Butler Global Methodist Church, Methodist Children’s Home or Pruitt Hospice.
