C. Lester Peed

Funeral service for C. Lester Peed, 92, of Butler will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.  Mr. Peed passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Mr. Peed was one of the three original owners of Peed Bros., Inc. established in 1948 with his brothers, Jack Peed and Marvin Peed.  He served with the Butler Fire Department for over 30 years and retired as assistant chief.  He represented the City of Butler on the Butler Housing Authority and the Flint Area Consolidated Housing Authority for almost 50 years.  He was a lifetime member of Bethel Congregational Methodist Church and a member of the Gideons International.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Appling Peed and Ella Brooks Peed; wives, Sara Faye Mott Peed and Helen Hamby Brooks Peed; his siblings, Jack Peed, Marvin Peed, Albert Peed, Mildred Peed and Bernice Peed McCants; and two children, Allen Brooks and Melodye Brooks Forbes.

He is survived by three daughters, Angela Lance (Charles) of Butler, Teresa Peed of Columbus and Robin Brooks of Butler; one son, Jack Brooks (Susan) of Butler; nine grandchildren, Justin Lance, Tracy Lance Pounds, Mike Brooks, Kelly Brooks, Harry Forbes, Kasey Dyson Farmer, Wesley Hines,  Bobby Allen Brooks and Johnny Brooks; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church, 1516 Thomaston, Road, Butler, GA  31006.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Congregational Methodist Church, Butler Fire Department, 42 Cedar Street, Butler, GA 31006 or Gideons International.
