Carol McElveen Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the age of 77. She was born on May 28, 1948, in Atlanta, GA, to the late Doy Winston McElveen and Mary Ruth McElveen. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Doy Winston McElveen, Jr.

Carol lived a life full of dedication and service. She worked for 38.5 years before deciding to retire, but after a few years of enjoying the slower pace, she realized she wasn’t done working yet. She then went on to serve the Crawford County school system for 11 years as a paraprofessional, where she became a cherished part of the community.

Carol leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her son, Tim Johnson (Holly), her daughter, Amanda Delp, her sister, Cathy Taylor, and her brother, Charles McElveen (Margie). She was a proud grandmother to her grandson, Noah Delp, and her granddaughters, Kayla Ross (Jocelyn) and Maddie Johnson. Carol is also survived by several nieces and nephews, each of whom she held close to her heart.

Her family and friends will forever remember her kind heart, strong spirit, and devotion to those she loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Open Bible Church, located at 6490 Sandy Point Rd, Lizella, GA 31052.

Carol's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 12:00 noon at Open Bible Church.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
