Graveside services for Cathryn Bussey Taunton, 85, of Ideal, will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 2 pm at the funeral home.

Cathryn passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Miona Geriatric Center in Ideal, Georgia.  She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Bussey and Gertrude Jordan Bussey; her husband, Oscar Taunton; her daughter, Sylvia Taunton; and her siblings, George Bussey, Herbert Bussey, Steve Bussey, Frances Bone, Jeanette Melvin, Iva Lee Whitaker, Suzanne Bussey, and Verna Mae Starner.

She is survived by her sister, Grace Dennard of Columbus, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in Cathryn’s memory to Miona Geriatric Center.

Special appreciation to the staff at Miona Geriatric Center for the excellent care provided to Cathryn over the years. The kindness and compassion shown by staff have truly made a difference in her life and brought peace of mind to the family.
