Clarence C. Wainwright Obituary
A celebration of life service for Clarence C. Wainwright, 89, of Butler, will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McLeighton Funeral Service in Reynolds. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
Mr. Wainwright passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Taylor County Health and Rehab.
Clarence was a hardworking and determined man who began his service to his country at a young age, enlisting in the Army before he was of age and later serving in the United States Marine Corps. He obtained his GED and pursued training in HVAC, electrical work, and later achieved certifications in water treatment and powerhouse operations.
Throughout his career, Clarence worked for Southern Glassine Company, Pabst Brewery, Tyson, and the Utility Commission of Fort Valley. Even after retirement, he remained active, working with the census and doing automotive transmission work on the side.
He found great joy in simple pleasures and time spent with family. Clarence enjoyed fishing and camping, spending many cherished years at Turkey Creek. He was especially proud of building a floating “bathtub boat,” which his granddaughters, Paige and Dallas, raced to victory two years in a row at the Turkey Creek Labor Day Race. He also loved selling peanuts and pork skins, often with the help of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Wainwright; his mother, Mildred Ball; his brothers, Henry Earl Wainwright and Lonnie Wainwright; his sister, Mary Ann Peterman; his uncle, Simpson Wainwright; and his aunt, Lorraine Cummings.
Clarence is survived by his son, Paul Wainwright (Monica) of Butler; his daughters, Brenda Maske of Butler and Jacquelyn Whitley (David) of Butler; his sister, Jo Wainwright Hickson (Ed) of Fletcher, NC; six grandchildren, Paul K. Wainwright (Kimberly) of Warner Robins, Jennifer Wainwright (Bart) of Reynolds, Lacey Dixon (Skeeter) of Butler, Dallas Kirksey (Shelby) of Butler, Bianca “Paige” Ritchey (Robert Tucker) of Reynolds, and Heather Epton (Sydney) of Clyo, GA; as well as ten great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Taylor County Health and Rehab who provided wonderful care for their father.
