Funeral services for Clarence L. “Gopher” Moncrief, 75, of Roberta will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 11:00 am at Roberta Evangelical Church. Burial will follow in Roberta City Cemetery. Gopher passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Houston Medical Center. He was a member of the Roberta Evangelical Church and was retired from Blue Bird Body Company. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Gopher was a volunteer EMT with Crawford County EMS for many years and volunteered as an EMT at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Moncrief and Jennie Belle Cochran; a brother, Henry Moncrief; and a sister, Hilda Dean Dukes.
He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Ruth W. Moncrief; one son, Doug Moncrief (JoLynn) of Roberta; one daughter, Janice Childree (Jarrod) of Roberta; two brothers, David Moncrief of Roberta and J.E. Moncrief (Sherrie) of Reynolds; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
