Funeral services for James “Jim” Wainwright, 68. will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:00 am at Turners Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery.  Jim passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.   

He began his law enforcement career at the Taylor County Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher.  He later became deputy then an investigator, and in 1998 was elected sheriff, in which he served for several years.  He loved his grandchildren dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Barbara Ann McDaniel Wainwright; a sister, Jean Wainwright; and his wife, Christie Wainwright.

Survivors include two sons, Adam Wainwright, and Drew Wainwright of Butler: and three grandchildren, Molly Wainwright, Johnny Wainwright, and Rykker Wainwright.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
