John Lee “Robby” Robertson, 74, of Lizella, Georgia, beloved husband and best friend of Laverne (Brickle) Robertson, passed away peacefully at his home on July 7, 2021.
Robby was born in Lexington, Virginia on July 31, 1946, to Raymond and Reba Robertson. He is predeceased by his parents, his beloved sister, Mary Alice (Robertson) Lunsford, and his brother, Kenneth Robertson.
Robby served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1969. During his service, he served on the USS Independence and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Commendation Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Robby is a Past Master of the Mabel Masonic Lodge #255 of Macon. Robby worked at AT&T and retired after 30 years.
Besides his wife, Laverne, Robby is survived by their only child, Jonnie Michelle (Robertson) Pitts and his son-in-law, Mike Pitts, of Peachtree City, Georgia; his only grandchild, John (Little Guy); and his nieces Shelly Maupin (Lunsford) and Cim Lunsford of Stuarts Draft, Virginia.
Robby was a sweet and mischievous son and brother that grew into a strong and loving husband, father, and PaPa. He was married to Laverne, the love of his life, for 46 years. Robby always had pride and love in his voice when talking about his daughter, Jonnie Michelle, and his grandson and namesake, John.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Nurse Sandy and all the members of Pine Pointe Hospice of Macon, GA. Their dedication and effort to provide Robby with quality and compassionate care over the last 8 months was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
A private family service will be held later honoring Robby. McLeighton Funeral Home of Roberta, GA is caring for the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA, 31210
