Mrs. Katie Battles Lawhorn, 75, of Butler, Georgia, passed away Friday morning, January 19, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. Graveside services will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Sand Bethel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 1:30 pm.

Mrs. Lawhorn was born in Lyerly, Georgia on September 4, 1948, to the late Cecil and Girtha Battles. Katie was a remarkable, strong woman and loved her family dearly. She always made a huge impact on everyone in her life with her sincere care, compassion, love, and selflessness. Although she endured many challenges in life, she remained kind and positive with a smile. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Billy Lawhorn; three sons, Carl and Mike Walker and Troy Taunton; and three siblings, Charles and Larry Battles and Barbara Herod.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Gockman (James) of Butler, Brian Lawhorn (Heather) of Butler, Kelly Welch of Butler, and Dana Taunton of Shiloh; four siblings, Jo Pate, Frances Boggs, Thelma Day (Jake), and Buddy Battles; eighteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
