Obituary
Funeral services for Laverne Smith King, 93, of Marshallville, will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of McLeighton Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the service hour. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ft. Valley, GA. Mrs. King passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at The Oaks Nursing Home. She attended the Academy for the Blind and was a member of the Centerville Lions Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas Smith, and Florence Clark Smith; three brothers, Rufus Smith, Jack Smith, and Bill Smith; and one sister, Lizzie Cromer.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Simonds and Lynn Williams; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
