Margie Margaret Robinson Wainwright passed away July 28, 2022 in her home with family by her bedside.
Margaret was born July 26, 1930 to Robert Lee Robinson and Susie Robinson. She married Walter Wesley Wainwright on December 23, 1949 in Butler, GA. Margaret lived most of her life in Taylor County. In 1951, she and her husband moved to Thomaston, GA, where they both worked at Martha Mills. In 1960, they moved back to Taylor County buying a small farm and country store where they loved working in their garden, raising cows and nurturing their three children. Their farm was a place the grandchildren always loved to visit, fish, hunt and enjoy grannie’s cooking. Margaret operated the country store for ten years. She worked many years for the Taylor County School System in the lunchroom becoming Lunchroom Manager for the elementary school. She loved her work in the lunchroom and would talk often about her times in the lunchroom after her retirement.
Margaret was a member of Turner’s Chapel Church. She was active in teaching Sunday School and coordinating VBS and loved working with the youth groups. She was also a member of the Lady’s church group and enjoyed quilting and other activities with them.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wesley Wainwright; her father, Robert Lee Robinson; her mother, Susie Mae Spillers Robinson; three brothers, Robert Lee, Paul and Floyd Robinson; and one grandson, John Walter Hendrix.
She is survived by two daughters, Margie (Edward) Benns and Nancy (Pete) Kurzen; one son, Rodney Wainwright; one sister, Linda Weldon. She has seven grandchildren Ryan (Jennifer) Benns, Wes (Emily) Kurzen, Shell (Darren) Hunt, Tiffani (Blake) Pattillo, Megan Wainwright, Todd (Sydni) Wainwright and Travis Wainwright. She has nine great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Turner’s Chapel Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Turner’s Chapel Building Fund. The family wish to extend our sincere thanks to Help At Home & Hospice of Central GA.
