Funeral services for Marinan H. Borders, 94, of Reynolds will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Reynolds United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the service hour. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Marinan passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Magnolia Manor in Americus.
She was born December 26, 1927, in Reynolds at home to the late William McKinley and Wilma Barrow Hollis. She graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1945 from Reynolds High School. Continuing her education at Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, she majored in elementary education and for three years Marinan taught 3rd grade in Oglethorpe, GA. In 1957, she began a thirty-six-year career as plant accountant at Flint Electric Membership Corporation in Reynolds, GA. She was a lifelong member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Borders, and a daughter, Julie Hawkins.
Survivors include one son, Scott Posey (Holly) of Reynolds; one daughter, Cynthie Middleton (Todd) of Harrisburg, NC; four grandchildren, Erin Hutchins (Ryan) of Raleigh, NC, Burton Posey (Rebecca) of Atlanta, Lydia Spaans (Michael) of Cleveland, OH and Bailey Middleton of Harrisburg, NC; three great-grandchildren, Caroline Hutchins, Charlotte Hutchins and Elise Spaans; two sisters-in-law, Berta Hollis of Tucson, AZ and Julia Ward of Cleveland, SC.
