Mary Amelia Halley passed away October 31, 2023. She was born In Macon, GA on December 21, 1944, to the late Nathaniel Lester and Mary Swearingen Halley of Reynolds, GA. She graduated from Reynolds High School and continued her education at Wesleyan College and Emory University. Amelia was a social worker for over 30 years at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth in Macon, GA before retiring to become a caregiver for her mother.
Amelia was deeply spiritual and a lifelong member of Reynolds United Methodist Church/Trinity Church.
Her hobbies included photography, local and family history, traveling, needle point, embroidery and cooking. She received the 1996 Social Services Counselor of the year for the Georgia Association of Home and Services for Children.
She was known for her loving spirit, sweet nature, thoughtfulness, positive attitude, and her care and concern for others. Amelia was an inspiration and blessing in the lives of her family and friends. We will miss her deeply and love her forever. She lives on in each of us.
Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 am. Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2:00pm at Trinity Church of Reynolds. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the church. Amelia is survived by her sister, Leslie Halley, and her loving family and friends.
