Myra Rutland Obituary

Myra Rutland passed away peacefully at her home in Greensboro, North Carolina on


September 22, 2025. She was born on October 19, 1938, in Butler, Georgia and lived a life


marked by kindness, devotion to family, and quiet strength.


Myra graduated from Butler H.S in 1956. She attended The American College of Radiology


and was certified in 1959. She worked in this field nearly 15years before becoming an


executive assistant at First Citizens Bank until 1989. In 1990 Myra pursued a new career


becoming an Insurance Agent, that became her passion allowing her to assist others in the


areas of Life, Health and Annuities. She led her company as a top producer for 35 years


and mentored many during her career.


Myra was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Over the years, she touched


countless lives through her generosity, her compassion, and her willingness to be present


for others. She found great joy in the simple things — spending time with family, a


meaningful conversation over a cup of coffee, garden tours or a zebra cake.


Her character was defined by integrity, patience, and a deep capacity for love. She offered


counsel and encouragement freely, always rooting for the success and well being of those


she held dear. Her legacy will live on through the memories, values, and affection she


instilled in her family.


Myra is survived by her sisters Sandra Kendrick and Jerolene Lavender; Brothers Robert


Blackston and Ricky Blackston. She was preceded in death by her Father Gordon


Blackston and Mother Sadie Blackston of Reynolds Ga. Sisters Gordene DeCarlo,


Johnselene Poole and Linda Stoutz. She had a host of nieces and nephews that she


adored especially her great nieces and nephews Avery Curlott, Emersyn Curlott, Owen


Curlott children of her niece Cristy Stoutz(Seph). Camryn Stoutz, Ayden Stoutz, Donovan


Delane and Ellie Kontogiorgos children of nephew Mike Stoutz(Kristin)that brought joy to


her daily.


A graveside burial will be held at 10am Monday September 29, 2025 at Bethel Primitive


Baptist Church Cemetery in Butler, Ga. A local Greensboro, NC memorial service to


celebrate Myra’s life will be forthcoming. Friends and family are invited to attend and share


stories, memories, and love. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory


to a local Greensboro, NC chapter of the AA program.


Though she is gone from our sight, her influence endures in the hearts she lifted, the lives


she shaped, and the quiet strength she showed every day. May we honor her memory by


carrying forward her compassion and kindness.
