Norma (Turner) Jones Obituary

Norma Jones, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, just 22 days shy of her 85th birthday. Born on March 30, 1941, Norma lived a life defined by kindness, service, faith, and devotion to her family and community.


She devoted 34 years of service to the State of Georgia through the Department of Family and Children Services, working in Marion and Taylor counties as a Case Manager and Senior Case Manager before retiring as Regional Peach Supervisor. Her compassion and dedication helped many families through difficult times.


Even in retirement, Norma remained active in her community. She worked at the Pine Mountain Regional Library in Butler and served as a Voter Registrar for Taylor County.


Faith was an important part of Norma’s life. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Butler, where she served for many years in the AWANA youth program. She also participated in the A Closer Walk Bible Study at Tazewell Church and attended Junction City Baptist Church.


Norma loved history, fellowship, and collecting Depression glass. She founded a group affectionately known as “The Glorious Glasses,” where friends gathered to share their love of collecting and enjoyed trips together to the Highway 127 Longest Yard Sale.


She shared nearly 35 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Angus Burrel Jones.


Norma was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Alice and Allison; her mother, Rita Peacock Turner; her father, William Robert Turner, Sr.; her brother, William Robert Turner, Jr.; and her husband, Angus Burrel Jones.


She is survived by her children, Greg Smith and his wife Nancy of Mauk, Georgia; Todd Smith and his wife Angie of Fort Valley, Georgia; Tami Justice and her husband Jeff of Kokomo, Indiana; and Charles Berry; her brother, Jerry Turner and his wife Marta of Thomasville, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Christian Robitzsch, Shaina Blackburn, and Nick Smith.


Norma will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and the many lives she touched through her kindness and service to others.


Her family finds comfort in knowing she has now heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.
