Ruth Vinson Obituary

Ruth Ida Domke Vinson, 86, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday June 4, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and consequent fall. Born November 8, 1938 in Lincoln Park Michigan to Harold Lawrence Domke Sr. and Ethel Jordan Domke. Married William Oscar Vinson in 1958 and traveled to Germany and all over the United States as a devoted wife of an army serviceman. After 20 years of service they settled in Decatur Alabama where she continued to be a dedicated wife and mother always putting the needs of others ahead of herself. She spent several years after her children were older, sitting and caring for some precious ladies in the nursing home. After 30 years of calling Decatur Alabama home they moved selflessly to Reynolds Georgia to be close to their oldest daughter to help as their son-in-law’s health was failing. Again, she devoted herself to her family and continuously found ways to help make life better for those around her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She always kept in touch with distant friends and family, never failing to care and pray for everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, 2 son-in-laws, and one great granddaughter. She is survived by Her children Sheryl Huggins, Lawrence Vinson, Keith Vinson (Tracy), Diana Rhea (Dennis) and Karen Vinson, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great granddaughters. She instilled in her children trust in the Lord by reading God’s word and praying through every difficulty that came her way. Always seeking a way to make things better shenever gave up. She fought till the end in the same way she lived her whole life, with strength, courage and perseverance with a gentle quiet demeaner. She was loved dearly by everyone who knew her, even those who cared for her the seven months she spent at the Brookdale Memory Care home. She is now reaping her reward and rejoicing with our Savior forever.

Services for the celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church of Reynolds on Friday June 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Family will meet friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to services. A short graveside to follow funeral service. McLeighton Funeral Service will be in charge of arrangements.
