Sandra Childres O’Neal, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026.

She was a faithful member of Roberta Baptist Church and dedicated many years of service to the Crawford County School System, where she worked as a paraprofessional and secretary. Through her work, she touched the lives of students, teachers, and coworkers with her kindness, dedication, and caring spirit.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved flowers and enjoyed their beauty in every season. More than anything, she cherished her family and treasured the time spent with those she loved. Her warmth, gentle heart, and devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

In her later years, she faced the challenges of dementia with strength and grace. During the final three years of her life, she made her home at The Oaks of Marshallville, Georgia. The family is deeply grateful for the compassion, kindness, and care provided by the staff and caregivers who supported her and brought comfort to her during that time.

Though dementia gradually changed many things, it never diminished the love she shared with her family. Her legacy of faith, love, perseverance, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mattie Childres; her beloved husband, William O’Neal; siblings, Tom Childres, Jr., Max Childres, Albert Childres, Emory Childres and Fred Childres.

She is survived by her three daughters, Lynn Davidson (RD) of Roberta, Terri McInvale of Reynolds, and Tonya Hamlin (David) of Troy, Alabama; one brother, Richard Childres (Alice) of Roberta; grandchildren, Andrew Davidson (Brittany), Wayne McInvale (Becky), Katie Evans (Lee), Kacie McInvale, Kalie Smith (Kip), William McInvale (Tara), Anna Collins, Byron Collins (Jezhel), and Dawson Hamlin (Jordyn); eleven great-grandchildren; and a special extended family member and caregiver, Havilyn Jones;  and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Roberta Baptist Church on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00 am.  Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 am on Saturday at the Roberta Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Roberta City Cemetery.
